Stories of garlic being used to protect us from the fanged-tooth ‘Dracula’ may not be of a great help in the recent times. Garlic may not ward off vampires, to say little of those new Hollywood-created vampires and the brain trust behind them, but what it CAN do is avert illness and disease which could hurt us more than any pair of fanged teeth. Garlic is everywhere these days, not the least in our everyday diets. It has so many health benefits and it might be able to stave off most, if not all dangerous or life-threatening diseases. Because garlic contains sulfur, it gives off a pungent smell, which has since become immortalized in literature and folklore throughout the years. And what an odor indeed – vile enough to protect the human body from all sorts of diseases.
