Miami Dolphins fans are rejoicing and celebrating for their first ever AFC east title since 2000.

The Miami Dolphins secure unbelievable AFC east title with their win over the Jets.

The Miami Dolphins under first year coach Tony Sparano, has won five straight games and nine out of its last 10 in making the play-offs for the first time in seven seasons and winning its first AFC east title since 2000.

Chad Pennington led his new team to a 24-17 victory over his old team, the New York Jets, leading Miami its first AFC East title since 2000 and its first playoff berth since 2001

The Miami Dolphins’ 10-win improvement this season tied the 1999 Colts for the biggest turnaround in N.F.L. history. The Jets’ fall from Super Bowl contenders to 9-7 disaster was the end of a movie the 79,454 fans at Giants Stadium have seen too many times before.

“I can’t recall another season where a team I played for fell apart like that,” said fullback Tony Richardson, who just completed his 14th season.

The Jets entered their game with the thinnest of playoff aspirations. They needed to beat the Dolphins, and they also needed either New England or Baltimore to lose.
